This season, as the clothes grew simpler and lighter, the keyword for accessories is bold --particularly for necklace and earrings. Statement necklaces and earrings are the easiest way to perk up a seemingly simple ensemble into a higher level.

For necklaces, bright, attention-grabbing colors are a must-have for this season (such as the ones from Marni and Lanvin), but I also went ga-ga over Celine's layers of big chains or Lacroix's tribal-inspired piece. Gucci's agate necklace represents one of the season's strongest color: blue, while Chanel takes spring in full bloom on their metal, Plexiglass and resin flower necklace.

For earrings, the BIGGER the better. Be it in neutral hues such as the gigantic hoops from Stella McCartney, embellished as in Lanvin, or over-the-top tribal as seen on Louis Vuitton. These earrings are screaming for attention --and getting it.

To avoid looking like an ornamented tree, try to keep the clothes simple. Wear a necklace over clothes in similar tones for a subtle and understated yet strong look. Or clash the colors to create an eye-popping, artsy and playful look. And as the necklaces this season are moving back up to the collarbone, try wearing it over clothes with high necklines.

Keep in mind that you should only choose one between each, wear either the necklace or the earrings only. I know it's tempting to wear a combo (as seen on Marni and LV runways) but believe me, that look could only be pulled if you: a. are walking on the runway, b. are going on stage for an opera or something similar, or c. simply want to look ridiculous.
