I know I know, it's probably a bit too late to talk about the Autumn/Winter 2008 trend now, since the Spring/Summer 2009's collections have already been shown. But since I figured we're just about to begin our wet season here in Indonesia (finally, after weeks of tormenting and unmerciful heatwave), there's no harm in doing so, right?

What I'm about to highlight from the season are tights.  

Tights, you say? Aren't they so yesterday? Well, apparently not. They keep reappearing everywhere, this time in wide variations of hues and prints which are too good to be missed. 

Trust Anna Sui to come up with the quirkiest feminine style. For her Autumn/Winter 2008 collection, she derived inspirations from American Indian outfits in bold brights colors such as red, purple, and blue. To top up the look, she also made some tights that are just to die for, uhm, I mean to covet for. Hearts, paisley, peacock? You choose.

D&G came up with Scottish look for their collection. It's red and deep blue tartans everywhere, top to toe. From scarf to blazers to dress to tights, all layered into one look. All that's missing is a bagpipe.

Can't decide which color to wear? Why not wear them all (in one piece)? Sonia Rykel played with color combinations of red, purple, and black on her tights. So pop, so young, so urban, so cool.

My personal favorite (and Vogue's) is Chanel. The magazine voted for the classic yet modern spin of the two toned tights. But I am head over heels with the lacy ones. Ever since I laid my eyes on them, I've become somewhat obsessed. Sadly I still couldn't find the cheaper version of it – dang.

But the question remains, will tights die after autumn/winter? A quick look into Spring/Summer 2009 runways prove that it won't. Together with their counterpart, leggings, they still appeared here and there though not as dominant nor bold. Some of the leggings even came in tie dyed version or a bit baggy/ruffled. And Chanel once again ruled out the game with their version, this time with their two toned sheer tights which are darker above the knee than they are below.
