For me, Valentine's Day is about celebrating matters of the heart, relationships and love rather than spending overboard on gifts and lavish restaurants. It's a big festivity for some people, or not much of a big deal for others. Either way, I hope you have a nice Valentine's Day with your loved ones. Here are a few styling tips for your V'day outfits, just for you. It's fun just to dress up and play runway in your bedroom, with the most basic things in your wardrobe. And no, you don't have to wear pink if you don't want to :)

The trick is, of course, our favorite motto: MIX and MATCH.

1. Use one vintage item, and combine it with something in style.

I find the mix and match in Cenik Renik exceptionally well, a combination of ethnic and modern, old fashioned and trendy :D I love them!

The trick is to choose vintage clothing such as vests, tailored skirts or dresses, and match them with trendy heels with intricate designs, or little black dresses with vintage sunnies, pearls, and pumps - Audrey Hepburn style. This look is timeless and elegant - especially appropriate for fine dining occassions.

2. Concentrate on accessories.

Accessories are your best weapons when your outfits are ordinary. Team up chunky ethnic necklaces with the most basic of dresses or tops and tees, and you will look... voila! Fabulous. A few selections from my favorite online shops:

3. Footwear.

Tights. Leggings. They are so in right now, with the trends of lace tights, latex leggings, and crazy patterned leggings. Match them with your mini dresses - they are the best match, or if you feel daring enough and are up for a fun date, mix them with your boy shorts and mini skirts. And be crazy on the patterns, this shop here (SiGarasi) offers a selection of zebra patterned or leopard patterned tights.

A little tip: when you wear patterned or lace tights, make sure your dresses and the rest of your outfits are not too 'pattern heavy'. Choose something simple, so they don't overpower your tights. Also, pay attention to your shoes. Leggings are best matched with plain pumps. Tights look great with ankle boots and pumps.

4. Play up your cardigans

Restaurants, especially fine dining venues, tend to be cold at times. With a nice cashmere or knit cardigan, you will look stunning (and shiver less!). If you choose something basic underneath such as a plain dress without too many patterns and colors, you can wear them with a patterned cardigan or one that has intricate details. A little fur on the sleeves or collar, maybe? Or one with buttons and sewn on patterns. They decorate a simple outfit with flair. But if your outfits were already patterned and complicated in design, why not tone them down with simple cardigans. I found a few fun cardigans online here

Tips for playing with cardies: use belts. Slim leather belts or big high waist belts look great with oversized long cardigans. Mini and midi cardigans look cute with mini dresses and little tank tops. Long cardigans are comfy to wear, especially with latex leggings and boots. Don't be afraid to add accessories with your cardigans.

5. Just a touch of pink

If you don't want to wear pink this Valentine's day but want to get into the romance of it all, why not wear a touch of pink. Pink shade of lipstick, pink bracelet, or a pink scarf.
