Versatility of medium length hair

Recently I've wanted to change my hairstyle. I've curled it, dyed it dark brown, turned it back to long straight hair and added a lighter tone of brown.. now I'm bored again and wish for something else. A big change, but not one that's extremely drastic. What should I do?

Well, I'm thinking of medium length hair, with soft layers that frame my face and barely touching my collarbones. I love Gwyneth Paltrow's chic hairstyle - straight and sleek.

Medium length hair offers a lot of styling options, from simple up-do (which is easier to do. I find it much easier to put medium length hair into a bun than long hair, which requires lots of mousse and bobby pins). It also compliments many face shapes and is a safe choice for any type of face. Furthermore, it looks versatile with almost any look, and is the perfect choice for someone growing her hair long, or those who would like to change their looks without drastically chopping their hair off.

A few tips for medium length hairstyles:

- Rinse hair thoroughly and apply conditioner only at the edges, far from the scalp. It will avoid hair being limp and oily at the top.

- Try both straight and curly hair - they look great with medium length hair. Here's how to achieve the curly look: apply a volumizing spray to the hair while it is still damp. Blow dry with a round brush. The next step is to use a curling iron to shape the curls. Once you have finished curling the hair, apply a light coating of hairspray. You can also use a spray shine product, if you like.

- Ask your stylist for layers underneath the bob to add volume to hair.

- Don't forget to treat your hair to a hairspa, or wash your hair with vitamin shampoo or tea, once in a while, to add shine.
