Moselle (My Jakarta Great Sale Adventure)

The annual Jakarta Great Sale took place on 14 June - 14 July this year, offering an up to 80% discount (well, at least that's what they say). And what with so many malls in Jakarta nowadays, spending money is becoming way easier than before. Temptations are in every corner, literally.

One particular temptation comes in the form of a small shop in one corner of Plaza Indonesia.

Moselle is a rather new name in the local accessories retail industry. I found this place by accident a few months ago when I was browsing the newly revamped Plaza Indonesia. It's located on the second floor, in a corner facing Le Prive boutique (opposite Gelare Ice Cream).

As someone who thinks she never has enough accessories, I was drawn to the shop instantly. And fell in love with almost every item I set my eyes upon. Sigh... But of course, as you may have guessed, the price tags are rather high. So I must think a few times before spending my paycheck here. But during the Jakarta Great Sale, they offered an up to 50% discounts on some items. So I splurged.

Moselle's design is simple, modern, yet elegant. Sometimes even playful. The craftmanship is very intricate and delicate. And though the materials used aren't always the expensive ones, they managed to make it look expensive. They would combine materials such as plastic beads with semi precious stones and weave them into a very nice design.

Take this purple beads bracelet (pictured above), for example. At one glance, one would've thought it was made of small stone/glass beads, but it was actually made of plastic beads, with plastic charms. I really loved the cute charm bracelet interpretation design. Price was Rp. 210.000 (original).

Another one was this extra long beads/metal necklace. The beads are plastic too. But they combine it with fine metal chains (in gold and black color combination) and thus, the result is a sleek and sassy look. I bought this for my best friend for her birthday and showed it to my mom. She fell in love with it so we came back a few days afterwards to get her the same item. The necklace is very long so you should wear it by layering it a few times. So cool. Price was Rp. 215.000 (original).

And then there was this expensive looking stones bracelet that caught my eyes. When I picked it up, I was surprised that it was so light. I studied it and found out that they only used 2 real stones in the design (the big green stones) while the rest were plastics. I was pleasantly tricked. No wonder the price tag was rather low compared to the others. It was priced for Rp. 175.000 (original).

I love rings and never go out without wearing at least one. So I scanned the limited ring section (they don't have much designs for rings) and fell in love with this simple green stone ring. It looked so vintage! They actually have it in pink color too but I decided to get the green one because I already have a big pink stone ring (I was tempted to get both but I wisen up). Price was Rp. 210.000 (original).

My mom, on the other hand, prefers brooches more than rings (she only wears real gold/diamond rings as they suit her better). I don't think the brooches at Moselle are their original design / handmade but they were quite good nonetheless. She fancied this multicolored glass dragonfly brooch and I agreed that it's beautiful. So she bought it. Price tag was Rp. 225.000 (original).

The most expensive item that went into our shopping basket that day was this particular necklace. But when I held it up in my hands, I could see why it's expensive. It's made from real glass and fine metal chains, and coated with 18K gold. It was heavy but it looked so beautiful. It looks so much like Monet but with a way friendlier price. So I encouraged my mom to take it (yeah, my bad heheh...). The price tag was Rp. 600.000 (original).

Yes, I know, the high price tags are intimidating. Given a normal condition, I don't think I'd buy them. But let's not forget that all the items above were on a 50% discount. So, I could say that it was a rather fair price (after the discount). And we went home with an all smile look: our adventure that day was fruitful.
