Kidada Jones - The Girl Behind Disney Couture
MEET KIDADA
Her gig as a designer for Disney Couture was a fairy tale come true for aspiring actress (and daughter of music legend Quincy), a self-described tomboy with a Tinkerbell obsession.

And lest you think this is yet another phoned-in celebrity "collaboration," it's worth noting that Kidada hits Disneyland once a month to let loose and presumably channel her inner Goofy.

Kidada's second favorite happiest place on earth? The celeb-friendly Mauro Café at the always fashion-forward Fred Segal. ELLE.com's executive editor Keith Pollock and fashion and accessories director Joe Berean caught up with Jones at her self-designed Disney Couture pop-up shop at the trend-setting L.A. retail mecca.

Kidada's twin inspirations for both the new line and the pop-up store were the long lineage of Disney Princesses (from mother of them all Cinderella to perky upstart Pocahontas) and a recent visit to Tokyo during cherry blossom season. Feeling the vibe but not keen to wait online at Disney Japan anytime soon? These three Tokyo boutiques offer all the quirky cuteness you could ask for, with none of the shrieking toddlers:
KIDDYLAND (Omotesando district): Imagine living in your childhood dollhouse and you're getting close
LOFT (Shibuya district): The ultimate destination for collectibles of all kind
TOKYU HANDS (Shibuya district): There's something for everyone here. A must-stop destination.

Kidada's style philosophy? Build your outfit around your jewelry (for her, gold and gold only) and not vice versa, making this constantly designing woman her own best customer.

The Magic Kingdom's crown jewels

In addition to her Hollywood and music royal family, other celebrity supporters of Kidada's Disney designs include (clockwise from top) Carmen Electra, Lindsay Lohan, and Nicole Richie.

With a mod icon mama (the perennially stunning Peggy Lipton) and uber-producer father (Quincy Jones), not to mention sister, BFF, and Office star Rashida, Kidada could be the inspiration for a new Disney character: Tinseltown princess.

Like her favorite Disney icon Tinkerbell (or, as Jones calls her in true fan fashion, "Tink"), Kidada is spirited, unpredictable, and perhaps most importantly, not afraid to create her own happily ever after.
