Revlon ColorStay™ Mineral Foundation
Some of you may have noticed that mineral is the trend now in beauty industry.
After L'Oreal launched its mineral collection a few months ago (in Indonesia), Revlon finally followed up by launching its Colorstay Mineral collection, which includes loose foundation, eyeshadow, blusher, and lipglaze. I'm reviewing the foundation now, since it's the only thing I've tried so far.
This fragrance free and oil-free product claims that it's the first long wearing mineral makeup with an exclusive skin loving mineral complex formulated for natural radiant skin. It is non irritating, packed with natural ingredients in a loose powder form that eliminates the potential irritants found in other foundation formulas.
They also claim that the patented ColorStay™ long lasting technology with SoftFlex wears for up to 16 hours, so color always looks freshly applied and won't fade all day. But in reality, for me, the color only lasted for around 5-6 hours. I don't know whether it's because the product's claim is an exaggeration or because my oily skin won't hold makeup for too long. I guess it's the combination of both.
I read that it contains patented exclusive Mineral Complex of Rose Quartz, Mother of Pearl and Topaz; good for skin minerals which are said to brighten and bring out the natural skin radiance with pearlised mineral particles and luminosity. Well, I don't really know whether this is true or not, but it does do a good cover-up job.
I admit that the loose powder form and the very soft brush (which is said to be made from real animal hair) makes it easy to apply and blends evenly for a soft, natural-looking, and flawless finish in just seconds. My only complain about the brush is that the strands shed quite excessively during the first few times of my using it.
The product's also packed with SPF10 for extra care and protection against the sun. Though I'd definitely still be wearing a real SPF cream/lotion under it if I'm to go for heavy outdoor activities.
I don't know if it's better than L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Foundation as I've never tried it, but so far I'm satisfied with the product. Sold at Rp. 125,000,- I think it's worth it.
Now let's all wait for L'Oreal's baby sister, Maybelline, to launch its mineral thingie here.

the L'oreal brush is quite stiff so this one must be a big improvement. But if it's made of real animal fur then it's not so environment friendly, is it? Unless the fur is extracted in some ways that do not harm animals..
Also, this one's slightly cheaper than its competitor product. The L'oreal is quickly used up in counts of months :)

Yeah I noticed the brush difference too.
And if for for L'Oreal you have to dip the brush into the pod, which makes it not too easy to control the amount of powder you want, Revlon's packaging makes it way easier. The brush is retractable, you just have to twist it to make it shorter or longer, and there's a filter on top of the powder container so it controls the amount of powder coming out.
To use it, just twist the brush to make it short, shake the container a bit, then twist the brush longer again; open the cap (where the brush is attached) and shake a it of excess powder. Voila.

Wow..the brush is surely tempting.

Sounds wonderful and easy to use.

I've tried this one, and it works well. Tried the L'oreal too, once at the photoshoot.
Personally, I love this one much better than the L'oreal.

Aku juga pake ini! Bagus lho.
