Michael Storer (niche perfumer) - Genviève
Two drops of Genviève was dabbed on each pulse spot. Captivated directly with its complex rose scents, powdery note and clear one, I decided to dab more. Disaster! My hand was shaking, the vial slipped, half the content spilled onto my right body part. To deal with it, I did something silly by pouring most of what was left in the vial to my left body part.
Later that day, my body smelled weird.
At the left side, the smell of the roses changed fast into something similar with heavy sandalwood incense stick that commonly used to pray in monastery. That was too sweetly-heavy to be worn in Indonesian weather.
At the right side, it smelled so green and fruity, framed with clear rose note that blended well with some other flowery notes I could not describe. The sandalwood was less heavy and much sexier as the musk kicked in well.
So, the whole day my nose and I spent in confusion whether we prefer the green part than the left part or vice versa. We gave up eventually at the time my nose decided to call it a day. We, my nose and I, took a bath with traditional coffee body scrub. Trust this was powerful way to clear the path of jammed olfactory sense.
Peeping at the tiny vial, I found 1-2 drops left. Hence, I decided to give it another try. First, I wore rose-scented-lotion in my right hand, heady-jasmine-scented in my left hand. Dabbing each hand with one drop of Genviève, I found the different result totally perfect, truly remarkable and wonderful. Eventually, the beauty revealed! In an odd way, Genviève acted as soft, woodsy accentuation to the thick-flowery-scented lotion, making them both completely wearable. I know this is not a correct way of admiring a perfume; just like adding an ABC-chili-sauce to a French soup: the original taste was actually broken, but turned to be more delicious :-) Too bad I do not have any drop of Genviève now. Thus, I stick to my ordinary Elizabeth Arden - Green Tea instead.
